"So, here in the dark—

in a night bleaker than bleak—

in a time outside of time—

there is a mark

on the Holy map

of your soul

where you found

your Maker

in the hard, dark night—

and then lived to see

the light of dawn."

I love the imagery of our soul being a map. Even a holy one. I've never thought of it this way, and may think of it differently from now on. Thank you for this honest and vulnerable share!

Hi, Krissy. Thank you for stopping by to read my words and to share a kind thought or two. I absolutely love that the way I wrote about the soul map impacted you. Don't you love it when artists and writers help us see things in different ways?

Congratulations, Kimberly, and well deserved!

I love "sweet black air" and "determined hoot / like a psalm."

Thank you so much for the congratulations, Megan. And I like that you enjoyed the poem. One of my favorites that I have written lately, and I look forward to publishing my next collection in 2025.

I love your poem and Donna's essay so much. Both breathing life into me like drinking water from His well.

I love that you said like drinking water from his well! That is perfectly put. It's been fun how I was able to pair my poetry with the essays. I've been enjoying it.
